GeNeYouS aims to bring young scientists in genomics together, thereby increasing their (scientific) knowledge and career opportunities. Our primary target groups are Ph.D. students, postdocs and other early stage researchers, but anyone who is interested in the activities of GeNeYouS is welcome to join. In general GeNeYouS comprises:

• this website, consisting of a clear overview of the members and their profiles, search engines for vacancies and courses, and news and facts specifically for young scientists;
• symposia, lectures and workshops on scientific and career related topics;
• easy access to courses and workshops organized by third parties, such as universities, research institutes and research schools;
• contact with important players in the field of genomics;
• international projects, thereby facilitating international exchange.

GeNeYouS consists of 3 committees who together are responsible for her functioning and success.

Finance

The main duty of the Finance Committee is to maintain a continuing review of the financial affairs of the organization. Using this information, it is the committee’s duty to make appropriate recommendations to the board or an executive committee regarding financial matters. The mission of the finance committee is to:

• Review and provide a recommendation to the board for the annual budget
• Contact compagnies for funding and colaberation
• Make an overview of the financial situation of past year(s), this year, and coming year(s)

Interaction

Are you interested in meeting a lot of young scientists to exchange interests and to gain skills like organizing, communication, presenting and planning? Then the Interaction committee is the one for you! The Interaction committee is involved in the following subjects:

• Acquiring and maintaining a broad and (inter)active network
• Organizing activities like workshops, symposia, excursions, etc.
• Most of these activities we organize for GeNeYouS-members and other young scientists. Sometimes we participate in activities of other organizations.

Communication

Are you interested in communication, media, websites and personal interactions to make GeNeYouS known throughout the country or even Europe? Then the Communication committee is the one for you! The Communication committee is involved in 3 main subjects:

• Maintaining and enhancing the GeNeYouS website
• Representing GeNeYouS on congresses, symposia and events
• Communicating with the media to bring research and GeNeYouS to the public
